Aloe Vera Juice Benefit - Digestive and Constipation Irritable Bowel Syndrome is widespread among people in the United States and the United Kingdom. This condition of the colon brings pain and suffering and leads to poor absorption of needed nutrients from the foods eaten. I.B.S. may further lead to the development of common diseases. Speaking to physicians that treat bowel disorders the development of cancer is not uncommon after years of coping with irritable bowel syndrome. To keep our bodies healthy proper essential nutrients of proteins, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, fiber and water must not only be ingested in a daily diet but also digested and absorbed into the bloodstream through a healthy digestive tract. When poor digestion is present; meaning a lack of digestive juices-hydrochloric pancreatic enzymes and bile liver then the inability to break molecules of these nutrients in our foods exists. Small children and adults may develop major deficiencies all due to improper digestion. Weak heredity factors may predispose the I.B.S. condition yet eating too fast not chewing foods well and the choice of foods eaten all influence the digestion process. Outside factors that further influence digestion are stress and the health state of our environment. Symptoms of I.B.S. -gas bloating abdominal pain constipation-diarrhea allergies poor health fatigue The treatment of I.B.S. responds best when digestion and allergy are considered for each individual. Gluten a protein in grains, beans, white potatoes and certain glutinous based substances is the biggest offender in I.B.S.. Milk is the second irritant for certain individuals. The wide range of health conditions that can develop from I.B.S. follows: -diverticulitis chrones multiple allergies obesity rheumatoid arthritis depression skin problems schizophrenia anemia M.S. Disease takes an opportunity to develop. Digestion and bowel health play an extremely important part in health maintenance and recovery from all diseases. This is where Clinical Nutritionist Karen Masterson-Koch was first introduced to the herb aloe vera for the support of the digestive system and to reduce inflammation in the bowel. "My patients would feel better within minutes of drinking the succulent drink. Years later I learned of the anthraquinones & salicyclic acid in the plant that reduced the pain and discomfort in the G.I. tract almost magically." The common sense approach to health with I.B.S. is:
Many unfortunate I.B.S. individuals can no longer evacuate waste from the body. The 22 feet of colon becomes scarred from daily irritation and actually hardens from the scar tissue left. Even harsh laxatives may lose their effectiveness. At this point surgery is the only alternative to remove the restricted passages in the colon and still does not remedy the problem poor digestion & allergies! After years of clinical findings and review of research during the 1950-1970's Karen Masterson-Koch has developed these guidelines. Supplements: Aloe Life Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice Concentrate - Recommended dose is 1 Tbs in water before each meal. This will help to repair damaged tissue in the gut and stimulates all of the digestive glands to function properly; stomach, kidneys, gallbladder and liver. The aloe will also help with daily regularity. Milk free: Acidophilus Taken daily this will allow proper growth of friendly bacteria in the intestines and colon. An imbalance is common in individuals today but is not healthy. Taking antibiotics and eating refined sugars and excess carbohydrates creates an over abundance of the bad bacteria; Candida Albicans to grow in the intestines. This imbalance blocks absorption of nutrients and contributes to an unhealthy environment in the colon and intestines. Cod liver Oil - Best in the emulsified form if possible. This will provide high quality vitamin A and if taken while eating dark orange and yellow vegetables like squash , carrots, and yams it will help to repair the lining tissues of the intestinal gut. Recommended dosage is 1-2 Tbs daily for adults and less for children. Calcium and Magnesium - These minerals play an important role in repairing damaged tissue also. Foods that are high in these minerals are dairy products. IBS individuals are usually very sensitive to Dairy products so it is important that they take Calcium and Magnesium supplements daily. Recommended dosage 1000-1200 Mg daily of Calcium and 500-600 Mg daily of Magnesium. Diet for I.B.S. - Exerpt from Gift of Nature by: Karen Masterson-Koch Remember that I.B.S has an element of allergy in the condition and some people may have sensitivites to some of the foods mentioned. Eat as tolerated. -lean meats - steamed vegetables(raw only as tolerated) - yams - red potatoes - water - white rice - millet - corn tortillas - peeled fruits - eggs - sprouts - seafood - raw pumpkin, sesame & sunflower seeds (chew well) - black tea (as tolerated) - butter & olive oil - spelt bread - flourless bread (specially sprouted must say flourless) Avoid regular grain foods: oats, wheat, barley, brown rice, beans (including soy bean products), white potatoes, coffee, regular milk, all psyllium and flax products and all capsulated or pearls supplements. If yogurt and cottage cheese bring upon symptoms avoid as well. Fiber: Include beet, raw carrot, celery sticks and peeled apples as tolerated. Use caution when purchasing foods that claim to be gluten free. Many still contain irritants that conflict with Karen's tested IBS gluten intolerance diet! Check back with us Dec 2008 for the NEW BOOK on gluten intolerance and digestion by Karen Masterson Koch Reflux, Gerd, Gastritis, Heart Burn, Indigestion, etc. Indigestion can manifest in many different forms. Through counseling thousands of individuals over the years, I have found several factors important to consider before needing to rely on prescription medicine. If you are already on prescription medication you can still begin to improve your diet and add the nutritional supplements. Note: Health products do not conflict because they are just concentrated forms of food 100% natural with no toxic side effects. Most people get off their medications when they no longer have a need for them. Some physicians are actually listing Reflux as a result of being on several different prescription medications for a prolonged time. This may be from the drugs congesting the liver. Therefore it is my professional opinion that Reflux can be improved greatly with building up the liver and improving over all daily digestion. Factors That Improve Digestion: Diet Avoid: spicy, greasy, fried, dairy, chocolate, coffee, caffeine, tomato, alcohol and citrus foods. Avoid overeating. Chew your foods well before swallowing. Drink only small amounts of liquids at meal times. Drink larger amounts of water and beverages in between meals. Keep junk food low. Eat nutritious foods with quality proteins and vegetables daily. Especially include dark greens, yellow and orange vegetables. It is suggested that most if not all adults supplement their diet to reach optimum health. (It is especially important if you find you are dairy intolerant to take mineral supplements.) Supplements a.) Calcium Citrate & Magnesium Citrate (1000 mg./500 mg.) b.) Multiple Vitamin and Mineral supplement that includes B-Complex c.) Probiotics (Milk Free acidophilus) d.) Liver tablets and (and or) herbs that help the liver like Milk Thistle, etc. Digestion Support Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice Concentrate (WLAVJC) or Stomach Plus Formula with Herbs (Especially for Relux.)Make certain your bowels are moving daily. Constipation will make all of your health problems worse. Poor digestion and dietary deficiencies may cause a lack of useable calcium and magnesium in the body. The roles these minerals play are important. Men need them as much as women. They not only build strong bones and teeth and help in daily metabolism but are also crucial for muscle contraction and relaxation. Minerals enable the esophagus sphincter and others to function correctly. These sphincters open and close the intestinal tract to carry its contents towards the proper area for digestion. B-Complex is also very important for the digestion support. Also bile from the liver plays a crucial part in healthy digestion. Further challenges occur if an individual is not secreting proper digestive juices. These digestive juices are to come from the stomach, pancreas and liver. They are crucial to break down the foods properly after eating. If in short supply, intestinal gas develops. Most individuals need more digestive juices and the Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice Concentrate (WLAVJC) encourages proper levels. It seems approximately 90% of people with indigestion need more of the proper digestive juices. (Note: If upon drinking the WLAVJC you experience negative symptoms stop.) Some people have more Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) than is needed. Approximately 10% of people are truly too acidic. This is why the Stomach Plus Formula was developed. It is a stomach tonic or balancing agent. The 11 herbs added to the Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice help to strengthen the digestive tract while regulating the balance. Make certain you are taking the Calcium and Magnesium as well. How do I choose the correct juice to improve my digestion? If you have found that drinking or eating lemon, orange or grapefruit makes your digestive upset worse then it is best to drink the Stomach Plus Formula. Also if you have nausea (from chemotherapy, medications or pregnancy) and other periodic upset with spicy or greasy foods then the Stomach Plus seems to be the best choice. Generally with the diagnosis of Reflux start with Stomach Plus. How do I take the juice? Take 1-2 tablespoons before breakfast in the morning. Take another 1-2 tablespoons as needed with symptoms. The liver tablets have been extremely helpful for people that have had reflux for a long time. For best long-term results I encourage you to include the supplements listed and improve your daily diet. [B-Complex may be taken separately without a multiple vitamin and mineral formula.] For many their digestive upset begins to subside within the first few days. Occasionally some people take up to 2-3 weeks to have significant improvement. For more information and other health handouts call 1-800-414-2563. |
